WhatsApp is working on quite a bunch of features that are either rolling out via the beta channel or getting ready for deployment. Recently, it was revealed that WhatsApp beta is adding a feature that will automatically share your WhatsApp status as a story on your Facebook account.

According to the latest report, another subtle feature is in the works by WhatsApp developers. WhatsApp has been spotted working on a new feature that will automatically play GIFs on your Samsung Galaxy or other Android phones. WhatsApp has supported GIFs for a long time, and the platform is used by billions to share GIFs and other media content.

The automatic GIF playback feature is already live for a few WhatsApp beta testers

However, until now, you needed to tap on the GIF to start its playback. While this makes sense for videos, it isn't great for GIFs, as GIFs are meant to show instant emotions during a conversation. Thankfully, WhatsApp learned this fact and is now working on automatically playing GIFs that are sent during a conversation.

WABetaInfo spotted this new feature in the latest WhatsApp beta build v2.23.10.2. The catch here is that the GIF will not play in a loop but instead will automatically play once. You need to tap on it to play it again. Apparently, a few select WhatsApp beta users are already able to use this feature.

While this isn't a big feature update, it shows that WhatsApp is working on these granular things to improve the overall messaging experience.
