Meta is rolling out a massive update for WhatsApp that can change how multi-device users interact with the platform in a big way. Thanks to this update, WhatsApp users can use the messaging platform on multiple devices using the same account.
This feature was previously available in beta builds of WhatsApp, but now, it's rolling out on the live channel. With this update, people can use the same WhatsApp account on different phones or, more specifically, on up to five devices. One device is the primary one, and users can link four additional devices as “secondary” to the same WhatsApp account.
A very useful feature for multi-device users and businesses
Users can now switch between connected phones and continue their conversations where they left off without having to sign in or out of different devices. Employees can do the same and use this feature to reply to customers from their phones under the same WhatsApp Business account.
Meta is now rolling out this WhatsApp update globally, but the process is gradual and may last a few weeks. Once users have the update, they should be able to link additional phones to their WhatsApp account using a QR Code or one-time code method.
