Why the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is a masterclass in harmonious design

The biggest reason why more and more people are shifting to foldable phones is that the conventional candy bar style isn't that exciting any more. It felt like there wasn't much happening on the design front. Almost all of the phones looked like each other, regardless of the manufacturer.

Foldables turned things around. The new form factor provided customers with something unique after nearly a decade of smartphones that all looked and felt alike. They also provided manufacturers with more room to play around with as far as the design is concerned. With the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung has delivered a masterclass on what it means to achieve a functional, seamless, and harmonious design for a foldable smartphone.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 design is a perfect blend of functionality and sensibility

The Galaxy Z Flip 5's beauty lies in its simplicity. The two halves of the device have a perfectly balanced grid design. The clean and sharp lines lend a very modern and sleek look to the device.

Samsung's new Flex Window, which is what the company calls the larger cover display, dominates the top half of the device. It provides users with the perfect opportunity for self-expression. They can customize this display to their liking and the new Flex Window Widgets make it possible to do much more without having to unfold the device.

The lower half is where you get a pop of color. Samsung has created a very nice color palette for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, one that complements the dark black of the display when the panel is turned off. There are also a handful of matte color options available exclusively from Samsung that further elevate the look.

This juxtaposition of these two halves yields a design that harmoniously blends functionality with sensibility. Samsung didn't need to resort to any sort of gimmicks to make the design pop. On the contrary, it made a conscious decision to achieve more with less, and thus ended up with a blueprint that many other manufacturers will undoubtedly follow in the years to come.

Samsung is only a day away from releasing its new foldable phones. If you haven't already, you can pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and take advantage of the early deals while they're still available.
