While some Samsung Galaxy Book users are still trying to get used to Windows 11, it seems they will be served with yet another update to their operating system. According to a recent leak, Intel's next-generation desktop CPUs might support next major version of Microsoft's desktop OS i.e. Windows 12.

Leaker @leaf_hobby has revealed information regarding Intel's Meteor Lake desktop platform. Rumor has it that the company's forthcoming CPUs will provide Windows 12 compatibility. It is important to note that there has been no official word from Microsoft regarding Windows 12. But as the company has reverted to three-year release cycles, there's no denying that the upcoming OS can be released as early as next year.

Windows 12 might contain additional Artificial Intelligence features

As reported by The Verge, the whistleblower best recognized for disclosing the whole specifications of Intel's Xeon CPUs tweeted information regarding Meteor Lake. The tweet, which was eventually deleted, included references to Windows 12 before it was taken down. This suggests that Microsoft may be working on an update to its operating system, though the company has not confirmed this yet.

In addition to that disclosure, VideoCardz also had info concerning Meteor Lake. The source disclosed that 20 PCIe Gen 5 lanes and support for Windows 12 could be featured in the upcoming processors. Furthermore, it is anticipated that Windows 12 might contain additional Artificial Intelligence features.

“As we start to develop future versions of Windows we’ll think about other places where AI should play a natural role in terms of the experience,” Microsoft's chief of consumer marketing, Yusuf Mehdi, told The Verge on the most recent upgrade to Windows 11 that incorporates the new AI-powered Bing into the taskbar.

With that in mind, Microsoft would need to work closely with hardware partners like Intel and AMD to develop AI-capable chip designs if the company genuinely aims for its forthcoming Windows version to make substantial use of artificial intelligence.
