Yeelight has announced an OTA software update to the Yeelight Pro S20 Gateway. The new firmware adds support for the Matter connectivity standard to the device. That means the Yeelight Pro S20 Gateway and any smart home device connected to it can be controlled by every Matter-compatible platform, including Samsung's  SmartThings. Previously, Yeelight Pro was compatible only with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa. Now it can work seamlessly with Samsung’s SmartThings smart home network too.

Yeelight Pro smart home products are now compatible with SmartThings

The announcement was made by the company on Twitter. However, Yeelight hasn’t provided any details about the rollout of the update. Going by the company’s statement, it looks like the update has already started rolling out, and it could reach all the users in the next few days. Once the Yeelight Pro Gateway S20 gets the update, users should be able to access it and all the products connected to it in the Samsung SmartThings app on Android and iOS.

Yeelight Pro is the company’s high-end lineup of smart home products. It includes the Yeelight Pro S20 Gateway, a device that controls all Yeelight Pro products and many other smart home devices such as lights, motion sensors, and switches. Users can control these smart home devices through the Yeelight Pro S20 Gateway using the Yeelight app on their smartphones or smart home platforms like Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa, and with the latest update, using the Samsung SmartThings platform too.

Late last year, Matter became officially available. It is a common smart home connectivity platform co-developed by various smart home device and platform makers, including Amazon, Apple, Google, and Samsung. A smart home device compatible with Matter can be controlled by any smart home apps by the brands mentioned above. Samsung brought full support for Matter devices earlier this year.
