While the YouTube Music app still awaits the arrival of podcasts in the US, the YouTube app on Android has finally gained the feature. Notably, the YouTube app on your Samsung Galaxy or other Android phone gets a new dedicated podcasts tab to channel pages. The feature is not only available for Android phones but for web apps as well.
The channel pages now feature a new ‘Podcasts' tab that sits between the ‘Live' and ‘Playlist' tabs. According to 9To5Google, Google has shared that the feature is now live globally. Tapping on this YouTube Podcasts tab, you will see a playlist that is marked as a playlist by the creator.
Podcasts in the YouTube Music app are still under limited availability
It negates the need of having to search by name, the particular show card, or go through the Playlist tab, which still exists and shows podcasts and doesn't differentiate them. For example, you can check out Electrek.co and Team Coco podcasts by clicking on their respective links. The new podcasts tab on the YouTube Android and web app will encourage YouTube Creators to upload episodes as videos and also separate the plethora of already available podcasts into an easy-to-access tab.
Only content marked as podcasts will appear in YouTube Music. Apparently, the YouTube Music podcast support is still under testing and has limited availability. Some users reportedly received the feature last Wednesday. Speaking of the YouTube app podcasts tab, it is still video-focused at the moment. As noted by 9To5Google, although Google has encouraged podcast creators to upload a square art, that does not appear as of yet.
