Back in August, Monster Watts successfully gathered enough funds from its Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to start working on a back plate attachment for the Galaxy S4 Active to enable Qi wireless charging – called the WiQiQi receiver, to make up for the lack of an official wireless charging-enabled back from Samsung. However, thanks to legal issues, production of the WiQiQi charger has been cancelled.
According to Monster Watts, the legal issues would stem from the water-resistance claims of the Galaxy S4 Active, and legal consultations over the matter has led them to cancel the product altogether (the water-resistance of the S4 Active might be the reason Samsung itself hasn't added wireless charging to it). All those who backed the project will be fully refunded without the need of notifying the company – those that want a standard non-water-resistant wireless charging receiver for their S4 Active can ask for one, and also get $15 refunded along with it, in which case they'll need to write in to [email protected].
