Samsung showcased its upcoming line of premium headphones at Mobile World Congress, and we revealed exclusive information last month on details such as their pricing and features. Now, more info has leaked out on the lineup – initially titled SOUND, these are now branded as LEVEL and will be launching in three variants: LEVELin, LEVELon, and LEVELover. The pricing is set at €149 ($149), €199 ($199), and €349 ($349), and while these headsets have pretty unimaginative names, but Samsung is probably hoping the sound quality will win over consumers.
The in-ear LEVELin headset is the entry-level version – it has a metallic finish and comes with a remote control on the wires for use on devices running Android 4.0 and above for launching S Voice. Higher up is LEVELon, which is on-ear headset that includes 40mm speakers for high sound quality, and also features NFC connectivity and S Voice support. The costliest of the bunch is LEVELon, an over-ear headset that has 50mm speakers and is completely wireless thanks to NFC, Bluetooth and aptX connectivity. Its Smart Touch Control feature will make it possible to adjust the volume, play or pause music and navigate through a playlist, and like the other two, this one will support S Voice as well. All three will come with protective cases, and will have features like noise cancellation.
The LEVEL headsets will be sold as one of the many accessories Samsung already provides for its smartphones, though a concrete launch date remains unknown for now. Sound quality was certainly good when we tested these at MWC, but the high prices might prove to be a deterrent to sales.
