The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has slapped South Korea's SK Telecom with a week-long business suspension and it could spell trouble for Galaxy S6 sales. SK Telecom will not be able to sell any devices during this time. Samsung would certainly not want the suspension period to overlap with April 10th when it finally releases the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. The KCC is yet to announce when the suspension goes into effect but it is expected to make an announcement later today.
Samsung's new flagships have reignited consumer interest in the company's smartphones so it is imperative for Samsung that the launch goes off without a hitch in its own backyard. SK Telecom will play a pivotal role in that because the carrier accounts for over 50 percent of South Korea's wireless market. In addition to the suspension SK Telecom has to pay a $21.21 million fine for offering illegal subsidies on devices.
