Folks who own the Galaxy Alpha or the Galaxy S5 Active on AT&T have an update to look out for today. The carrier has just started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop for these handsets, they'll both be updated to version 5.0 and will receive all of the goodies that come as part and parcel of Lollipop.
The Lollipop update brings major user interface improvements, many new features, bug fixes, stability and performance enhancements. Even TouchWiz seems to have received a little inspiration from Material Design to provide users with a new and improved UI. Galaxy Alpha users on AT&T will be looking at a 1GB download while the Galaxy S5 Active owners will have to download a 1.4GB update file before they can enjoy Lollipop on their devices. AT&T has just started rolling out this update so it won't go live immediately across the United States, the over-the-air rollout shouldn't take more than a day to be completed though.
Oh, and you can expect the Galaxy Alpha to start getting the update on the unlocked model globally in the near future, at least if what Samsung France recently said is to be believed.
