After unveiling them in China last week, Samsung has launched the Galaxy On5 and the Galaxy On7 in India today. The Galaxy On5 is priced at INR 8,990 (~ $150), while the Galaxy On7 carries a price tag of INR 10,990 (~ $185), and both these devices will be available in the country exclusively from Flipkart starting midnight tonight. Samsung explains that the ‘On' word is inspired from the young crowd, which is “always on” and connected with friends.
The Galaxy On5 features a 5-inch HD LCD display, while the Galaxy On7 comes equipped with a 5.5-inch HD LCD display. Both devices feature a quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. However, the former has an Exynos 3475 processor and the latter has a Snapdragon 410 processor. The Galaxy On5 has a 2,600 mAh battery, while the Galaxy On7 has a 3,000 mAh battery.
Both the devices look similar to the Samsung Z3 in terms of design. In the imaging department, the Galaxy On5 has an 8-megapixel primary camera, while the Galaxy On7 comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera. Both these devices, similar to the Galaxy A and Galaxy E series smartphones, feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the devices feature run Android 5.1 Lollipop and come with MixRadio music streaming app as well as Samsung's Ultra Data Saving Mode.
The Galaxy On5 and the Galaxy On7 focus on social media, and will be available in Black and Gold colours. Users of the Galaxy On series can stream free music through MixRadio, which has 32 million tracks (including tracks in 12 Indian regional languages). The app can save music locally for offline usage and can learn from a user's music habits to suggest music. As a part of ‘Make in India' initiative, both these devices will be manufactured locally in India.
