It was confirmed last month that Mojang is going to release a Minecraft port for the Gear VR and that's precisely what it has done today. Minecraft for Gear VR has now been released and it's available for download from the Oculus Store. Since Gear VR only supports a handful of Samsung devices you'll need to own the Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S7 edge, the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 edge to play Minecraft in VR.
The company says that players who own the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S7 will find the screen resolution to be “pretty fabulous.” Mojang has released a version of Minecraft just for the Gear VR on the Oculus Store as it's also making one for the Oculus Rift headset. This port brings all of the features of Minecraft: Pocket Edition and it's priced the same as well. The port features cross-platform play with Minecraft: Pocket and Windows 10 editions. It's live now in the Oculus Store.
