Samsung teases Batman v Superman variant of the Galaxy S7 edge

Three months ago, we reported that Samsung may be developing a limited edition Batman v Superman variant of the Galaxy S7 to coincide with the worldwide release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Unfortunately, chatter died down shortly after the movie hit the box office and it looked as if the handset wasn't going to see the light of day. However, that may be about to change.

Earlier today, Samsung took to its official Twitter page to share two teasers for the upcoming device. The first is an image displaying the front of a Galaxy S7 edge illuminated by the gleam of the Bat-Signal, while the second is a GIF showcasing the handset's box embossed with a glossy Bat logo. Seeing as this project is a collaboration between the South Korean company and DC Comics, it's plausible that we could see a Superman version launch shortly after.

This isn't the first time that Samsung has worked with a publishing company for an exclusive model of one of its flagship smartphones, though. If you cast your mind back to June 2015, you may recall that the manufacturer teamed up with Marvel to release a mere 1,000 sought-after Galaxy S6 edge units anodized in a gorgeous red and gold hue with an Iron Man logo printed beneath the glass on the back. The device quickly gained attention picking up a resale price of over $1,000.

Editor's Note: It's possible the Batman edition of the S7 or S7 edge will be a tie-up with DC for the Injustice: Gods Among Us game for Android instead of the Batman v Superman movie, especially since Marvel wouldn't be keen on Samsung helping its chief rival promote the DC movie universe while still having a partnership with Marvel. The tweet specifically mentions @InjusticGame, so fans of DC's superhero movies shouldn't hold their hopes high.
