Samsung has launched the sought-after Black Pearl variant of the Galaxy S7 edge in New Zealand. The handset, which carries a price tag of $1,599 (NZD) in the region, is available to purchase from the firm's online store, in addition to 2 Degrees, Spark and a number of select brick-and-mortar retailers.
Personally, I think Black Pearl is the best color available for the Galaxy S7 edge. Unlike the Black Onyx colorway that debuted on board the handset back in March, 2016, this offering features a glossy finish and black bezels; giving it a more stealthy, streamlined appearance. It really does look fantastic.
As far as specifications go, the Black Pearl model sports the same internals as all of the other variants of the Galaxy S7 edge, meaning it continues to pack a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 8890 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 3,600mAh battery. There is one difference, though: this version ships with 128GB of integrated storage.

From whatever angle you look at it $1,599 (NZD) — $1,150 (USD) — is a lot to spend on a smartphone. Granted, you're getting your hands on one of the best devices currently on the market, but with its successor right around the corner is it necessary to spend that much money to get your hands on a limited edition color?
