Samsung announced last week that it will conduct a preview program in the United States to test Bixby Voice before the much-awaited feature is released for everyone. It invited Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners in the country to register for the preview. They would get the update if they were selected as part of the beta group.
Some users who had signed up for the preview are now reporting that they've received the Bixby Voice update for their handsets. They are now able to make full use of the Bixby button on their devices as the preview brings Bixby Voice functionality which was previously limited to users in South Korea.
It's not surprising that Bixby Voice preview is being rolled out today given that Samsung has recently been sending out app updates to all Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners that appear to be setting the stage for its new voice assistant.
Samsung claims that Bixby Voice enables users to do everything that they can do with a tap on the display with just a voice command. Your mileage with this claim may vary so you'll have to use the feature first to be sure.
Those who signed up for the preview and haven't received early access, they should keep waiting for a few days to see if it shows up. If it doesn't, they've probably not been accepted for this program. Those who have received it just need to long press the dedicated Bixby button to bring up the assistant.
Hopefully, Samsung will soon confirm when it's going to release Bixby Voice for all Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners in the United States. If you're one of the lucky few who has been selected, do share your Bixby Voice experience with us in the comments below.
