AT&T has finally confirmed that it's going to start taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 Active from tomorrow, August 8. The carrier has officially confirmed Samsung's new handset which the company says is its “toughest Galaxy smartphone yet.”
The Galaxy S8 Active has a metal frame and a bumper to protect it from bumps and drops. There's a rugged, rough texture on the back for a secure grip. Built to military-grade durability specifications, the handset is shock, shatter, water and dust resistant.
It features a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED flat display with a 18.5:9 aspect ratio. All of the other internals like the processor, RAM and storage remain the same. The Galaxy S8 Active comes with Bixby as well.
AT&T is going to start taking pre-orders for the handset from tomorrow. It will be available in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold colors. The Galaxy S8 Active will be available in-store from AT&T starting August 11.
Customers will be able to purchase the Galaxy S8 Active on the AT&T Next plan for $28.34 for 30 months. That's works out to $850.
Interestingly, Samsung has said that the Galaxy S8 Active will be an AT&T exclusive “for a limited time.” This means that the Galaxy S8 Active might be the first “Active” smartphone from Samsung to land on another carrier.
AT&T seems to have pulled the product page for the Galaxy S8 Active that went live earlier today but given that the launch dates have now been confirmed, it's likely that the page will be back up again soon.
