Samsung acquired connected devices manufacturer SmartThings back in 2014 for nearly $200 million. It started selling the company's new home automation hubs from September 2015. SmartThings also launched its first new product line after being acquired by Samsung that month.
It launched the new SmartThings Hub which can connect to more than 100 smart home devices through one simple app. Compatible connected devices like motion sensor, switches and cameras were also launched.
Samsung later launched a SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit for $249. The kit includes a SmartThings Hub as well as several compatible accessories. Customers get two Multipurpose Sensors, a Motion Sensor and an Outlet.
The company posted a new video on its official YouTube channel today showcasing just how easy the SmartThings Hub makes it to have connected devices working in harmony. It effectively acts as the brain of the smart home.
It connects wirelessly with a wide range of smart devices and makes them work together. Compatible devices include speakers, locks, lights, thermostats and more. Users can then control their smart home devices through the SmartThings app or Amazon Alexa.
Samsung wants customers to know that SmartThings is the easiest way that they can turn their home into a smart home. A SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit can often be picked up at a discount so keep your eyes peeled for deals if you're interested in it.
