Amid rumors that there's a Samsung four camera phone in the pipeline, the company confirmed an event for October 11. The invite subtly hints at a device with four cameras. Our information suggests that the handset will be called the Galaxy A9. It will indeed come with four rear facing cameras.
This will be the first smartphone from Samsung to feature four rear cameras. The company has already launched its first triple camera device, the new Galaxy A7.

A new report today sheds some light on the specs of this upcoming device. It's said to feature a 6.38-inch FHD+ resolution display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip under the hood. It may also have a 3,720mAh battery. The new Galaxy A7 has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. This device might have the sensor on its back.
That's not what most people will buy this phone for. The rear quad camera system will be it's biggest selling point. The report mentions that the device will have a 24-megapixel primary sensor with an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor that has a 120-degree field of view. The Galaxy A7 has two similar sensors.
The Galaxy A9 is also said to feature a 10-megapixel zoom and an additional 5-megapixel zoom sensor. The setup may allow for different optical zoom levels on the device in theory. One could be a depth sensor as well to improve background blur in shots. The device might have a 24-megapixel front camera as well.
None of this has been officially confirmed so take it with a grain of salt for now. More information about the Galaxy A9 is likely going to surface in the days leading up to its launch.
