Samsung is adding another device to the list of Galaxy phones and tablets that have been updated to Android Oreo. The Galaxy Tab 2 Active Oreo update is rolling out right now in Italy, along with the yet unannounced November 2018 security patch. This is the second device to get the November patch ahead of time, following the Galaxy J7 Prime that received the new patch earlier this week.
Galaxy Tab 2 Active Oreo update is based on Android 8.1
The Galaxy Tab 2 Active Oreo update is based on Android 8.1 and comes with software version T395XXU3BRJ5. You can expect the usual slew of Oreo features if you own the tablet, including an updated Samsung Keyboard app with new high-contrast themes and emojis, Dual Messenger, picture-in-picture view, improved App Shortcuts for the home screen and app drawer, and more. Many minor changes are also littered throughout the new OS, some of which you can read about in our What's New With Android 8.0 Oreo series of articles.
Since this is a major update, it may take a few days (or weeks) to reach more countries. Those in Italy should be able to download it right away from the Software update menu in the tablet's Settings app. If it isn't available yet, you can try again in a few hours or download the firmware from our database and upgrade right away. The Wi-Fi-only variant doesn't seem to be getting the update, but that shouldn't be the case for long.
