Common food preferences often go a long way in determining the fate of romantic connections. Samsung has taken this concept to the next level via their latest dating app called Refrigerdating. The app works with the Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator by taking a photograph of your fridge's insides. Refrigerdating will then ‘match' you with people that have similar looking fridges. You can then swipe right or left based on how the contents of someone else's fridge appear to you.
You can even take a photo with your phone if the prospect of posting images via a refrigerator comes off as too radical. The insides of one's fridge often provide valuable insight into how one lives, so it may help boost your chances much better than any heavily-filtered image used on social media. Elin Axelsson, a PR manager at Samsung Electronics Nordic, states, “We hope people can meet under more honest or transparent circumstances with the help of the contents of the fridge because that can tell you a lot about the personality.”
Refrigerdating is available on all Samsung smart appliances
The app can easily be installed on all Samsung smart appliances and phones via a web browser. Samsung hasn't revealed anything in the way of numbers just yet so the number of daily active users is unknown. The company even worked with a relationship expert while developing the app and advice users not to ‘go styling your fridge now'.
Currently, a majority of the app's users are based in Sweden, where the idea appears to have originated. According to the European Union's statistical office, nearly half of all households in the country consist of single adults without kids, so it's a good place to start. Head over to this link and sign up if you want to give the app a try. The app is available globally for everyone.
