Samsung has already launched the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, and so on up to the Galaxy A80, making it a crowded lineup. The company seems to be on way to make it worse by launching ‘s’ variants of many of these devices soon. We have come across evidence previously about the existence of these models, but now a leaked Galaxy A10s intro video has made it more or less official.
Unfortunately, the video reveals nothing about the A10s other than its imminent launch. The video seems to be random without any coherent message, but that shouldn’t be entirely surprising given that it is a budget device without any headline-grabbing features. Going by the FCC documents, the Galaxy A10s will be a minor upgrade over the regular A10 with dual rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner.
Apart from the A10s, Samsung also appears to be working on possible A30s, A50s, A70s, and more, confirmed by the existence of model numbers A307F, A507F, A707F, etc. This is in addition to models like the Galaxy A20e that is already on sale in European markets. Of course, Samsung is not launching all of these models in every market, but that still doesn’t solve the problem of delayed software updates and confusion in the minds of customers. We don’t know when and where Samsung is planning to launch these ‘s’ variants, but the launch seems to be inching closer.
One of the biggest criticisms of the Galaxy J series was how crowded and confusing it was. When Samsung decided to revamp its budget lineup by bringing it under the fold of the Galaxy A series, there was some hope the company will remedy some of these shortcomings. While the new A series brought many welcome changes, it appears to be going the Galaxy J series way when it comes to the number of models and their positioning.
Update – After securing clearances from the Wi-Fi Alliance and the FCC, the Galaxy A10s has now acquired the Bluetooth SIG certification as well. These are the main regulatory approvals a device has to obtain before hitting the market.
