The list of Samsung monthly updates expands today as the company details the September 2019 security patch. The company will soon start rolling out the update to compatible devices. As you'd know by now, these updates offer little in the way of new features as they're primarily meant to improve device security.
Samsung has a monthly Security Maintenance Release process for its mobile devices. The updates that it sends out include patches from both Google and itself. All of the patches included in the Android Security Bulletin for September 2019 are therefore included in this release.
September 2019 patch detailed as part of the Samsung monthly updates
The September 2019 security patch brings fixes for four critical vulnerabilities that were found in the Android operating system. That's in addition to over a dozen high and moderate-risk vulnerabilities.
Fixes for 17 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures items are included as well. They're the vulnerabilities that were found in Samsung's own software. One of the vulnerabilities allowed attackers to change USB configuration without authentication. Another enabled brute force attacks on screen lock password.
This latest Samsung monthly update addresses all such security concerns. It shouldn't be long now before Samsung starts rolling out the September 2019 security patch to compatible devices. We'll be sure to let you know when the company starts sending out the firmware updates.
