Samsung's impressive software update rollout performance continues. The company's foldable lineup is joining the traditional candy bar smartphones in the Android 11 One UI 3.0 party, with the major update now rolling out to the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
The South Korean smartphone giant has started rolling out the One UI 3.0 update to the Galaxy Z Flip 5G in Switzerland. The new update with firmware version F707BXXU1CTL6 is out now, and it brings the December 2020 security patch to the foldable phone. If you are a Galaxy Z Flip 5G user in Switzerland and if you haven't received the update yet, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the firmware via our firmware section and flash it manually.
While we don't have the official changelog yet, we expect the new version of One UI to bring the same features we saw with the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy Note 20 series. The update should bring refreshed and tweaked UI, one-time permissions, improved stock apps, chat bubbles, a conversation section in the notifications shade, repositioned volume controls, dedicated media playback widget, and improvements to Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls. You can view all the One UI 3.0 improvements here.
The LTE variant of the Galaxy Z Flip, which is powered by last year's Snapdragon 855 instead of the Snapdragon 865+, isn't receiving the update just yet, but that will likely hopefully change sooner rather than later. Samsung has revealed its plans to roll out the One UI 3.0 update to more phones over the coming months.
