Samsung had launched the Galaxy A12 earlier this year with Android 10 on board. This disappointed fans because the Android version on the phone was more than a year old. Now, the company has rectified its mistake and released the Android 11 update for the device along with the latest security patch.
The Galaxy A12 has started receiving the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 (Core) update in Russia. The new software update, which has firmware version A125FXXU1BUE3, also includes the May 2021 security patch. We don't have the official changelog yet, but it should bring Android 11 features like one-time permissions, auto permissions reset, chat bubbles, dedicated media player widget below the quick settings toggles, improved security, and better privacy.
It should also include One UI 3.1 features like a refreshed UI design, more lock screen widgets, better versions of Digital Wellbeing and parental controls, easier access to smart home controls, and more Dynamic Lockscreen options. The May 2021 security patch includes fixes from Google for three critical vulnerabilities and 23 fixes from Samsung for vulnerabilities in One UI.
If you are a Galaxy A12 user in Russia, you might have received a notification of the new software update. If you haven't received it yet, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. We expect other countries like India to get this update soon.
