8K video recordings confirm the Galaxy S23 is miles ahead the S22

Samsung's Galaxy S23 flagship series brings several upgrades and quality-of-life improvements, inside and out. One of the best examples of this is 8K video recording. Although the Galaxy S22 also had this capability, the Galaxy S23 series elevates 8K video recording to a new level thanks to some key improvements. A short video has now emerged on YouTube, demonstrating just how much more improved 8K video recording is for the Galaxy S23 series.

First of all, the Galaxy S23 series can record 8K videos at 30 frames per second, whereas the Galaxy S22 is limited to 8K@24fps. The higher frame rate alone makes for a better 8K experience, but it is not the only worthwhile upgrade that sets the S23 apart from the 2022 models.

The other huge improvement this year is that videos recorded at an 8K resolution are not as cropped as they were by the Galaxy S22 cameras. The field of view is considerably wider. This, combined with the higher frame rate, better image stabilization, and less noise, turns 8K video recording from a somewhat gimmicky feature to a more practical addition to the Galaxy S23 video-making experience. Check out the video below (via @Golden_Reviewer) for a side-by-side comparison between the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra 8K recording feature.

Seeing the results above, we can't wait to review the Galaxy S23 series and share our findings with you. Stay tuned and subscribe to our YouTube channel if you don't want to miss out on future content. We'll test and see if the rest of the Galaxy S23 series — not just the Ultra model — boasts such camera improvements over the 2022 generation.

Until then, you can check out our first impressions of the Galaxy S23 series in the hands-on videos below. And if you want to buy one of the new high-end Galaxy phones, Samsung opened the pre-order window yesterday. The phones should go on sale officially on February 17, but with some luck, you may get them shipped to your mailbox earlier.

Don't forget that Samsung also offers the Galaxy S23 series in a few online-exclusive colors in select markets, so before hitting that “Buy” button, you may want to check your regional store and see if any of the more unique flavors are available before to you.
