Samsung has always been Apple's number one OLED panel supplier. Its OLED panels are used in Apple Watches and iPhones. Now, Apple is planning to launch an OLED-equipped iPad sometime next year, and the company has reportedly awarded the contract to make OLED panels to South Korean display giants Samsung Display and LG Display.

According to multiple reports, Apple has placed orders for 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch OLED panels for its upcoming iPad to LG Display and Samsung Display, two of the biggest OLED panel makers in the world. Chinese firm BOE was excluded from the supply chain, but its exact reason hasn't been reported yet. According to another report, Apple hasn't finalized the order volume yet, but it may divide the orders equally between LG and Samsung.

Display market analyst Ross Young, who has a good track record with Apple products, said those OLED iPads will be launched in the first quarter of 2024. Apple's current-generation iPad Pro models are sold in two variants: 10.9-inch 120Hz LCD and 12.9-inch 120Hz Mini-LED. There is consensus among experts that Apple will replace them with 10.9-inch/11-inch and 12.9-inch/13-inch OLED iPad Pros.

Apple could again turn to Samsung for OLED panels for its future MacBook Pro models. It is being reported that Apple will launch 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops with OLED screens in 2025 or 2026. Next year, along with OLED iPad Pros, Apple could launch a 13-inch OLED MacBook Air.
