After releasing the One UI 5.1 update to its high-end and mid-range smartphones, Samsung has released the new One UI update to the Galaxy Tab S8 series. The new update also brings the February 2023 security patch to its high-end tablets to improve their security.

The One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S8 comes with firmware version X700XXU3BWB4, while the Galaxy Tab S8+ gets updated with firmware version X800XXU3BWB4. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra's One UI 5.1 update comes with firmware version X900XXU3BWB4. The new update is currently available in Switzerland and a few other European countries. It has a download size of around 1.87GB, so we suggest you download the update on a fast Wi-Fi network.

In India, the cellular version of the Galaxy Tab S8+ is getting updated with firmware version X806BXXU3BWB4.

If you have a Galaxy Tab S8 series tablet and if you live in Switzerland, you can download and install the One UI 5.1 update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Galaxy Tab S8 One UI 5.1 update: What's new?

You can watch our video to see what's new with the One UI 5.1 update. The new software brings the ability to quickly change the selfie camera tone in the stock camera app. The Gallery app brings a more powerful search, letting you click a face in the image to find other images with the same person. You can swipe up an image or video to view its EXIF information and edit it. Image remastering has improved, too. You can also create a Shared Family Album in the Gallery app.

One UI 5.1 lets you easily minimize or maximize an app by dragging one of its corners. In split-screen multitasking mode, the launcher shows frequently used apps first. Split-screen multitasking in Samsung DeX is now easier, thanks to a window divider. Modes And Routines now have more options and conditions. The Weather app shows all the relevant information at first glance. It also displays an hourly precipitation graph and has a new dynamic widget.

You can continue browsing the same websites on a Windows PC that you accessed on the Galaxy Tab S8. This feature can be accessed through the Windows Phone Link service on the PC. Samsung Internet offers a common search between bookmarks and history. The Smart Suggestions widget now offers Spotify's suggested music. The battery widget displays the tablet's battery charge level along with the connected accessories.

Other features include search suggestions in the Settings app, a way to choose the folder where screenshots are saved, Bixby Text Call, and using up to three emoji faces in AR Emoji Camera.

Thanks for the tip, Simon!
