Google Maps Immersive View to rollout in more cities

Google started the initial rollout of Google Maps' Immersive View feature to five cities, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo, in February 2023. While the rollout was going at a steady pace, several users reported that Google Maps Immersive View had arrived in London, but the feature wasn't mapped out interactively in Berlin.

Now, Google has said that the Immersive View feature will be available in more cities, including Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence, and Venice, in the coming months. With the Google Maps Immersive View feature, users will be able to use a combination of Street View and aerial imagery to view realistic digital representations of the cities where it is available.

Users will also be able to explore the interior of the restaurants, buildings, or places they want to visit, use the slider to change the time of day, and see how the city will look at that time. If the feature is live for your location, then it will appear as the first option in the photo gallery section.

You should be connected to Wi-Fi when you are using the Google Maps Immersive View feature. Because, as per a Redditor, using the Immersive View feature for 30 minutes burns 2GB of data, which isn't data-friendly if you are on a limited mobile data plan. The feature is still not rolling out at a nice pace, but that is understandable because Immersive View requires a sheer amount of data to be able to digitally represent a city so that users can interact with it.
