Is Samsung hoping to update every eligible Galaxy phone or tablet with the April 2023 security patch before this week is over? Well, probably not every phone or tablet, but Samsung sure does seem more energized than normal.
The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra are joininig an increasing number of Galaxy devices that have received the April security patch. The new update for the Galaxy S20 series sports firmware version G98**XXSGHWCF and is currently available in a handful of countries, including Brazil, Bolivia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The new Galaxy S20 update won't excite anyone
Unlike some of the other Galaxy devices, the Galaxy S20 series is only being treated to the April 2023 security patch and all the security fixes included in it. That's not surprising, though, considering the Galaxy S20 smartphones already got a slew of new features and user experience enhancements a few weeks back with the One UI 5.1 update.
In fact, Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra owners might want to get used to updates that don't bring anything new or interesting going forward. The S20 series was eligible for three major OS upgrades and it has already received them, and One UI 5.1 is more or less the last exciting update for the 2020 flagships.
If you are a Galaxy S20 owner, you can check for the new update and install it by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the relevant firmware from our archive and install it on your phone manually using a Windows PC.
