The Galaxy S23 series was the first to get Samsung's April 2023 security update. The update first reached South Korea and then expanded to Europe and other parts of the world. Now, the company's previous-generation flagship smartphones have started getting the April 2023 security update, and it has arrived first in the US.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S22 comes with firmware version S90xU1UES2CWCC in the US. This update is meant for the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra in the US. Devices in other parts of the world could get the new update within the next few weeks. It includes the April 2023 security patch that fixes 64 security flaws found in Galaxy devices. It might also bring general bug fixes and stability improvements.
How to install April 2023 security update on Galaxy S22?
If you have an unlocked Galaxy S22 series device in the US, you can now download the new software update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually using the Odin tool via a Windows PC.
Samsung debuted the Galaxy S22 series early last year with Android 12 onboard. The smartphones in the lineup have received monthly security updates since their release, and toward the end of 2022, they received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update. A few weeks ago, the smartphones received the One UI 5.1 update with additional software features.
