Along with brand-new smartphones, Samsung also sells refurbished ones through its Certified Re-Newed Store. Until a couple of days ago, Samsung was offering only the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra under this program. Now, it has started selling refurbished Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra as well.

Under the Certified Re-Newed program, Samsung is offering last year’s flagship phones for as low as $619, and compared to refurbished phones from other platforms, the ones from Samsung come with many reassurances. The refurbished Galaxy S22 is available in 128GB and 256GB storage options. The 128GB variant costs $619, and the 256GB option is $669.

Similarly, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is also available in two storage variants: 128GB and 256GB. The former is priced at $919, while the latter will set you back by $1,019. The refurbished Galaxy S22+, on the other hand, comes in only a 128GB storage option, and you’ll have to shell out $769 for it. Compared to the launch price of these devices, the refurbished ones are $100 to $150 more affordable.

Samsung's Certified Re-Newed phones come with new batteries

Refurbished Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra

Amazon also sells refurbished Galaxy S22 models, and the e-commerce platform offers these devices at a significantly lower price. However, refurbished phones sold on Amazon come with old batteries, and the health of these cells could be as low as 80%. Refurbished phones that Samsung sells under the Certified Re-Newed program come with a brand-new battery, which means these battery packs have 100% health. Plus, Samsung is offering a 1-year warranty on refurbished phones, which Amazon isn’t, and that’s a huge advantage.

Amazon also says, “Refurbished phones are not guaranteed to maintain their waterproof seal,” which spoils the whole fun of owning a high-end flagship-grade waterproof smartphone. That’s not the case with refurbished phones sold by Samsung. You can take these phones worry-free underwater. Owing to all these reasons, the refurbished phones that Samsung sells are costlier than the ones from Amazon.

Although Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed Galaxy S22 models come with a lot of promises and are better than refurbished ones sold by other platforms (at least on paper), these phones are only $100 to $150 cheaper compared to brand-new Galaxy S23 phones.
