It is now widely known that Samsung is finally bringing a bigger cover screen to the Galaxy Z Flip lineup, starting with the Galaxy Z Flip 5. We also exclusively published how the cover screen will look like. Now, more details about the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover display have been revealed.
According to reliable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a 3.4-inch cover display with a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels, leading to a pixel density of 305ppi. This makes the screen a lot bigger than the one on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3, and it will be quite sharp. It is also a squarer screen rather than the rectangular screens found on previous-generation Galaxy Z Flip devices. It could make handling tasks like checking notifications, widgets, and other information much easier.
Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover screen will allow users to do more things without opening the phone
To take advantage of the bigger cover display, Samsung could bring additional UI changes and software features. While the cover screen is big enough to use full-blown apps, we are not sure whether the South Korean firm would allow using apps directly on the cover display. Only time will tell how productive the cover screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is rumored to feature a 6.7-inch primary foldable OLED screen with a waterdrop-shaped hinge, making the screen crease less visible and leaving no gap between the two halves of the phone. The phone is expected to feature a bigger 12MP primary camera sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP selfie camera. The phone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, a fingerprint reader, and an IPX8 rating.
