The May 2023 update is going live for the Galaxy S23 series in more regions. The rollout began with the international Galaxy S23 variants in Europe earlier this week and later expanded to carrier-locked models in the USA. Now, the May update is available for the Galaxy S23 series in India.
The update has firmware version S91xBXXS1AWD1. It's a security patch and nothing else, but Samsung confirmed it is also working to improve the Galaxy S23 camera and fix some HDR issues with the next update. Whether it will land in May or June is to be determined.
The May 2023 security patch addresses flaws in the Exynos modem and the bootloader, among others. In total, this month's security update addresses 72 security flaws, 6 of which are labeled “critical” and 56 of which are labeled “high.”
For now, until more camera fixes and improvements go live, Galaxy S23 series users in India can enjoy improved security by downloading the AWD1 update. It should arrive through a notification on the phones, but users can also trigger the update manually by opening the Settings app on the phone, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
Galaxy S23 users who prefer manual updates through a Windows PC can download the official firmware files from our website.
