Samsung has released the May 2023 security update to the Galaxy Tab S8 series. The company's current-generation high-end tablets are now getting the latest security update in Japan. This is just the start, and other countries could get access to the update within the next few days.
The latest software update for the Galaxy Tab S8 comes with firmware version X700OPU4BWD8. The Galaxy Tab S8+ and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra are getting updated with firmware versions X800OPU4BWD8 and X900OPU4BWD8, respectively. The new software includes the May 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security flaws, some of which are marked as critical. The update might also include other bug fixes and stability improvements.

If you have a Galaxy Tab S8 series tablet and if you live in Japan, you can download and install the new software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, you can use a Windows PC and download the new firmware file from firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S8 series early last year with Android 12 onboard. The three tablets in the lineup have already received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update late last year and the One UI 5.1 update earlier this year. They will get at least two more Android OS updates in the future.
