It's mid-May, and another Samsung tablet is now joining in on this month's security patch. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite in Korea is now getting the May 2023 update, and in theory, it shouldn't take long for the update to reach the Lite tablet in more markets.
In Korea, the update is available for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with model number SM-P615N. The new OS version has firmware version P615NKOS5FWD2. The official changelog mentions improved security and nothing else. It's a routine security patch meant to keep Galaxy Tab S6 Lite safe from malicious attacks.
As Samsung revealed at the beginning of the month, the May 2023 security patch solves 72 security flaws that affect Android OS and Samsung's software across its smartphones and tablets.
According to Samsung, six of those vulnerabilities were critical, while a whopping 56 vulnerabilities have been labeled “high” security threats.
Although the update is available only in Korea for now, Galaxy Tab S6 Lite users in more markets should get access to the May 2023 firmware soon. To check if the update is available in your region, you can open the Settings app on the tablet, access “Software update,” and tap “Download and install.” You can also refer to our firmware page where you can download official firmware files and install them to your Galaxy device manually using a Windows PC.
