Months after releasing the January 2023 security update to the Galaxy M31, Samsung has released the May 2023 security update to the mid-range smartphone. The Galaxy M31 has now started getting the May 2023 security update in some Asian countries, and other countries could follow soon.
The latest software update for the Galaxy M31 comes with firmware version M315FXXS3CWD1. The update is currently available in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka and could be released in other parts of the world within the next few weeks. The update includes the May 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets.

If you live in any of the countries listed above and have a Galaxy M31, you can now check for the new update on your phone. To do that, you need to head to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy M31 in early 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The lower mid-range smartphone received the Android 11 update in early 2021 and the Android 12 update in late 2021. It won't get Android OS updates anymore and is stuck on Android 12.
