Qualcomm has unveiled the date for its next Snapdragon Tech Summit event. This is the event where the company unveils its flagship smartphone chipset every year. The Snapdragon Tech Summit 2023 event is where the company is expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor that will power most high-end smartphones in 2024.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2023 will occur on October 24, 2023, in Maui, Hawaii. The event will conclude on October 26, 2023. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which will be unveiled during this event, is expected to be used in some Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra units early next year. Other high-end smartphones from Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Sony, Vivo, and Xiaomi will also use this chipset.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will use ARM's new Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720, and Cortex-A520 CPU cores
According to previous leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is made using TSMC's 4nm (N4P) process, which slightly improves over Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's 4nm (N4) fabrication process. The chipset will feature one Cortex-X4 CPU core, five Cortex-A720 CPU cores, and two Cortex-A520 CPU cores. The Adreno 750 GPU will reportedly be much faster than the Adreno 740 GPU used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Various reports have suggested that the Xiaomi 14 will be the first phone to launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Regarding the Galaxy S24 series, the rumor is that Samsung is bringing back Exynos chips to the lineup. So, some countries will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 variants of Galaxy S24, while others will get the Exynos 2400 variants. How the Exynos 2400 compares to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 remains to be seen.
