Advanced Ambient Sound features go live for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Last month, on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Samsung announced it's been working on a firmware update to improve the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro wireless earbuds, specifically around the Ambient Sound feature. Now, Samsung appears to be rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro that brings the features promised in May.

The update is available for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro in South Korea and carries firmware version R510XXU0AWF3. The machine-translated changelog you see below mentions a handful of additions, including the improved Ambient Sound volume sliders, which now consist of five levels instead of three.

As per Samsung's original announcement, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro users getting this update will have the option of adjusting the ambient sound volume more gradually and also independently for each ear.

Ambient Sound becomes more useful, more advanced

The changelog mentions a few new additions to the Labs menu. Namely, an “Adjust call clarity” feature that Samsung says should be useful in noisy environments, along with “hearing assistance” and “listen louder” options.

Although the update appears to be rolling out only in South Korea as of this writing, Samsung should release it more widely. Last month, the company mentioned that “availability may vary by market.” It also didn't make any mention of whether these advanced ambient sound features will be coming to older Galaxy Buds models.

Where available, the latest Buds 2 Pro update, firmware version R510XXU0AWF3, can be downloaded and installed through the Galaxy Wearable app on the connected smartphone or tablet.
