Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy A02 two months after releasing the March 2023 security update. The entry-level smartphone is now getting the June 2023 security update, bringing it in line with various other high-end and mid-range smartphones and tablets.
The latest software update for the Galaxy A02 comes with firmware version A022MUBS3BWF1. The update is currently available in Latin America, and you can install it if you're in Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay. It includes the June 2023 security update that fixes over 50 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets. It doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements.
Galaxy A02 June 2023 security update: How to install it?
If you have a Galaxy A02 and if you live in any of the Latin American countries mentioned above, you can now install the new security update. To do that, you have to navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A02 in early 2021 with Android 10 onboard. The phone received the Android 11 update in early 2022, but it still hasn't received the Android 12 update. At this point we aren't even sure if the South Korean firm has plans to release an Android OS update to the smartphone, and this is highly unusual from the company that is usually known for good software support policy.
