Samsung has launched the ViewFinity S9 5K monitor in South Korea. This monitor is made for media professionals and creators who need a color-accurate screen for their work. The ViewFinity S9 was first showcased earlier this year at the CES 2023 expo in the US, and it is a successor to the ViewFinity S8 that was launched last year.
ViewFinity S9 5K monitor is now available for pre-order in South Korea
The ViewFinity S9 (S90PC) monitor is priced at KRW 1.9 million (around $1,457). The monitor can be pre-ordered from today, and the monitor will be available in stores starting July 3, 2023. It features a 27-inch VA QLED panel with 5K resolution (5,120 x 2,880 pixels) and a pixel density of 218ppi. Thanks to its ultra-high resolution, creators can view and edit 4K images and videos without scaling them. Samsung claims that the monitor can reproduce 99% of colors in the DCI-P3 color space and has a peak brightness of up to 600 nits. It has a height-adjustable stand that can pivot and tilt the screen. It can also be used with a VESA mount for added flexibility.
In addition to color calibration at the factory, Samsung has also introduced an easy color calibration feature that lets users calibrate the monitor's colors using a smartphone (via the SmartThings app). The ViewFinity S9 has a matte finish on the screen to reduce glares and reflections from nearby light sources. It has a Thunderbolt 4 port that supports display signals and charges a connected device with up to 90W of power. The monitor runs Tizen and has all the audio and video streaming apps. It also comes with a remote controller. It comes with a 4K Slim Fit webcam that can be attached magnetically.
Hoon Jeong, VP of the Visual Display division at Samsung Electronics, said, “The 5K ultra-high resolution monitor Viewfinity S9 is a product that integrates Samsung Electronics’ long-term concerns and know-how to realize sophisticated color expression. We will present products that reflect various needs and present a new standard for high-resolution monitors.”
