Samsung appears to have put a stop to leaks ahead of Unpacked. A few leaked renders prompted Samsung's actions, and the same renders indicated that the company is gearing up to release a wide variety of products at the next Unpacked event. Some leaks and rumors hinted at a new pair of Galaxy Buds coming at Unpacked, but a new report puts Samsung's next-gen earbud plans into question.
Before unveiling a new product, the Korean tech giant sends information to partner retailers and mobile carriers to help them prepare for the new product's release ahead of time. And according to @_snoopytech_, Samsung sent out information about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series, which virtually guarantees they'll be at Unpacked.
However, the same source says that Samsung hasn't sent any information about upcoming audio products. It could mean that, despite what earlier leaks suggested, Samsung might not plan to release a new pair of Galaxy Buds at Unpacked.
Does Samsung really need a new pair of earbuds?
The company might release new Buds later in the year or not at all. Either way, the fact that Samsung hasn't informed carriers and retailers about a new pair of earbuds doesn't inspire confidence in the Galaxy Buds 3 coming to Unpacked.
Should Samsung do what it takes to release a new pair of earbuds at Unpacked, next to the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5? Probably not. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are still fantastic, even though they were released in August 2022. They can hold their own against rivals. And they might even get attractive discounts just as Samsung prepares to ship out the next-gen foldable phones.
As long as the technology is still relevant, an upgrade might not be needed. This may seem like a strange notion to a subset of Samsung (or Android) smartphone users who more or less demand yearly upgrades. But for the moment, earbuds can afford the luxury of not feeling the pressure of forced evolution.
And if you want some new and exciting earbuds, maybe you can hope for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pokemon Monster Ball case to go on sale in more markets outside of South Korea.
