Unlike last month, Samsung is rolling out this month's security update quite fast. It has been just three days since the start of July, and the company has already released the July 2023 security update to the Galaxy S23 series in the US. We expect other markets to get the new security update within the next few days.
The carrier-locked models of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra have started getting the July 2023 security update. The new update comes with firmware version S91xUSQS1AWFD and a download size of around 425MB. It is now live on T-Mobile's network in the US. Going by the firmware version and its size, it seems like just a security update, and users shouldn't expect to see any new features or performance improvements with the new update.
Samsung is yet to reveal which security flaws and vulnerabilities it has fixed with the July 2023 security update. We expect the South Korean firm to publish its security bulletin for the month of July 2023 within the next few days. The unlocked units in the Galaxy S23 series haven't received the July 2023 security update yet.
If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy S23 series phone from T-Mobile, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. However, you may have to wait before the firmware goes live in our database. You also need a Windows PC and the Odin tool for the manual firmware flashing process.
