Last week, Samsung released the August 2023 security update to the Galaxy S23 series. However, the update was limited to the European region. Today, the South Korean firm released the August 2023 security update to the Galaxy S23 units in the US.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with firmware version S91xUSQU1AWGH. This update is only for the carrier-locked versions of the phones, and the factory-unlocked units haven't received the new security update yet. The new update brings a dedicated 2x zoom toggle in the stock Camera app, but you need to install the latest version of the Camera Assistant app to access it.
Apart from the new camera feature, the new software update brings the August 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the software. Samsung has released the first beta version of Android 14-based One UI 6.0 to some Galaxy S23 users who chose to beta-test the new software and the stable update is expected to go live in a couple of months.
If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy S23 series device in the US, you can now check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the newest firmware version appropriate for your phone's model number from our firmware database and flash it manually.
