Be careful your new Galaxy Watch 6 doesn’t fall off your wrist

Samsung redesigned the Galaxy Watch 6 series in many areas, one of which is the strap attachment/detachment mechanism. Straps for the Galaxy Watch 5 and older models attach through a pin that users need to pull back, but more modern straps introduced with the Galaxy Watch 6 series replace the pin mechanism with a button.

Samsung changed the mechanism to make it more convenient for Galaxy Watch users to collect and replace straps whenever they want. Galaxy Watch 6 users will find that it's way easier to replace the wrist straps to fit the occasion. More so, the One-Click system is compatible with older smartwatches.

However, it's not all good news, and some users complain that Samsung may have made it too easy for these new straps to be accidentally detached.

Some Galaxy Watch 6 users are now looking to buy older straps

Although Samsung's new smartwatch One-Click attachment mechanism is undoubtedly clever and faster, it doesn't seem to work as intended for everyone.

Many Galaxy Watch 6 buyers took to Reddit to share stories of their new smartwatches falling off because of accidental presses of the strap button. It doesn't happen to everyone, and users with more pronounced wrist bones are seemingly more susceptible to running into this issue. Samsung's new design is perfect when it works, but it might have a higher probability of failure than the old pin design.

Although many users are happy with the One-Click design, some Galaxy Watch 6 owners don't feel comfortable wearing their devices anymore because they accidentally fell off too often already. Their solution is to search online for wrist straps designed for the Galaxy Watch 5 and older models and use them with the Galaxy Watch 6. To them, the old pin mechanism proved to be more reliable.

Thankfully, there are plenty of pin-based wrist strap options on the market. Samsung has quite a few. And if you want to buy the Galaxy Watch 6 and haven't already, maybe it wouldn't hurt to go to a physical Samsung shop beforehand and test the new wrist strap design yourself.
