Foldable phones haven't been around for long, and their adoption hasn't been as quick as Samsung and other manufacturers might have hoped. But Samsung has been doing all it can to put its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip foldables into the hands of as many consumers as possible, and its efforts have resulted in some success, with the foldables already selling in numbers similar to those of the Galaxy Note lineup.
Samsung even expects its foldable shipments to exceed those of the Galaxy Note smartphones thanks to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, which is quite an ambitious goal and one that we hope the South Korean giant can achieve as quickly as possible. According to Korean media, that might not happen in 2023, but it seems Samsung will, at the very least, manage to hit the milestone of shipping 10+ million foldables for the first time ever.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 could sell 10% higher than their predecessors
It is being reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will ship 8-10% higher than their predecessors during the same period. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 could account for 60-65% of sales, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could account for 30-35% of all sales of Samsung's new foldable phones.
Samsung's parts suppliers indicate that orders for components have neither exceeded expectations nor fallen below expected numbers. Since the sales haven't increased ahead of the local three-day Chuseok holiday in South Korea, it is expected that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 may not exceed the sales of their predecessors by a huge margin.
Earlier, it was expected that Samsung would order 12 million to 13 million components for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, the total number is estimated to be around 1 million shorter than those expectations. Global economic recession is said to be the reason behind this drop. Even if the company manages to ship 10% more foldable phones this year, the total shipments could exceed the 10 million mark, which is an important milestone.
Galaxy S24 could launch in January 2024, a month ahead of Samsung's usual timeframe
The report also claims that Samsung will start the mass production of the Galaxy S24 series from next month. Moreover, it is expected that the Galaxy S24 will be announced in January, a month ahead of Samsung's usual time frame of February for its new-generation Galaxy S series phones. This early launch is claimed to be Samsung's response to strong demand for the recently launched iPhone 15 series.
The Galaxy S24 could feature the Exynos 2400 processor in most of Asia and all African, European, and Latin American countries. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 versions of Galaxy S24 series phones could be launched in China and the US. However, some reports indicate that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will only come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy chip worldwide.
