Samsung is working on a couple of new Galaxy A series smartphones as part of its yearly upgrade ritual. Two of those phones will be the Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s, both of which have been the subject of multiple leaks over the past month that have revealed many details about them.
Galaxy A05s gets a massive speed boost with Snapdragon 680 processor
The Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s are expected to be very affordable, similar to the Galaxy A04 and Galaxy A04s, but they might punch above their weight, at least as far as performance is concerned. The Galaxy A05 was recently confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which is quite more powerful than the Galaxy A04's MediaTek Helio P35 chipset. Now, Google has confirmed that the Galaxy A05s will get a Snapdragon chipset and a rather powerful one at that. Google Play Console listing reveals that the Galaxy A05s features the Snapdragon 680 processor with 6GB RAM.
The Snapdragon 680 chipset is made using TSMC's 6nm processor, which means it will be quite a bit more power efficient than the 8nm Exynos 850 found in the Galaxy A04s. The Snapdragon 680 has four high-performance Cortex-A73 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.9GHz. It also features the Adreno 610 GPU, which is passable for gaming as well. The phone also features a 50MP primary rear camera with Full HD video recording.
The upcoming affordable phone's listing also reveals that it will run Android 13 out of the box. Going by Samsung's track record, the phone could get at least two Android OS updates and two additional years of security updates. The phone is expected to feature a 6.6-inch screen with Full HD resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, GPS, Bluetooth 5.3, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.
