After dozens of leaks, Samsung has finally unveiled its new Galaxy A series affordable phones: Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s. Both new smartphones bring a newer design language, faster performance, and faster charging speeds. The Galaxy A05 and the Galaxy A05s have been launched in Malaysia, and they could be launched in more Asian markets over the next few days.
Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s launched in Malaysia
The Galaxy A05 has a 6.7-inch PLS LCD screen with HD+ resolution, while the Galaxy A05s has a 6.7-inch PLS LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy A05 has a 50MP primary rear camera, a 2MP depth camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy A05s sports a 50MP primary rear camera and a 2MP depth camera, similar to the Galaxy A05. However, it also sports a 2MP macro camera on the rear. On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera. Both phones can record 1080p videos at 60fps.
Both new smartphones come with much more powerful internals compared to their predecessors, the Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04s. The Galaxy A05 has the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, while the Galaxy A05s uses the decently powerful Snapdragon 680 processor with four high-performance CPU cores. Both phones have up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. They also have a dedicated microSD card slot and a dual-SIM card slot, but they lack 5G connectivity. Both phones also bring faster charging, at 25W, similar to Samsung's higher mid-range and high-end smartphones.
Galaxy A05s to get four Android OS updates
The Galaxy A05 and the Galaxy A05s are powered by a 5,000mAh battery. The Galaxy A05s has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, while the Galaxy A05 lacks a fingerprint scanner. They both have GPS, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Both phones run Android 13 out of the box. Samsung is promising to offer four Android OS updates to the Galaxy A05s, while no such promise has been offered for the Galaxy A05.
The Galaxy A05 and the Galaxy A05s will be available in Black, Light Green, and Silver colors. Their pricing and availability have not been revealed yet, but we expect the information to go public soon.
