It's no secret that iPhones have had better battery life compared to their Android counterparts. Apple's control over both the software and hardware enables its devices to be optimized to the fullest extent. That has only improved ever since Apple started making its own chips.
However it appears the lead that the iPhone's legendary battery life had enjoyed over its rivals, particularly the flagships from Samsung, has diminished. A new battery life test shows that the Galaxy S23 Ultra has bridged this gap significantly.
Galaxy S23 Ultra does a better job of matching the iPhone's battery life
YouTuber TechDroider has put the iPhone 15 Pro Max in a battery test against a whole host of high-end devices, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra, OnePlus 11, Google Pixel 7 Pro and the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. All of the Android contenders here have 5,000mAh batteries while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 4,422mAh battery.
The other Android devices bowed out one by one until the contest was ultimately a race to the finish line for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The iPhone 15 Pro Max won with a total uptime of 10 hours and 31 minutes with the Galaxy S23 Ultra coming in a close second with 10 hours and 27 minutes of uptime.
This gap used to be much wider on previous iterations of the iPhone and Samsung's Ultra flagships. Even with larger batteries, they couldn't come as close to the iPhone as the Galaxy S23 Ultra now does.
It's impressive that the device is able to achieve that now even as Android phones in general are nowhere near as optimized as the iPhones. All the more reason why one should think to buy the Galaxy S23 Ultra, particularly since it has the iPhone 15 Pro Max all but crushed.
