Since 2019, Samsung has been working with Île-de-France Mobilités, the authority controlling transport companies in Paris, to digitize and dematerialize public transport tickets. This week, Samsung and the organization are taking another step toward that goal.
Samsung announced it is running a proof of concept for a new ticket validation system that uses the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5, and Watch 6, along with the Samsung Pay platform.
The system, which requires tickets to be purchased on a smartphone, allows Galaxy Watch users to validate said tickets or Navigo pass using the Samsung smartwatch at the terminals of the Île-de-France Mobilités transport network in Paris.

Samsung and Île-de-France Mobilités are now testing this new ticket validation system and accepting Galaxy Watch users to register for the pilot run. The test is open to only 10,000 participants.
Paris is trying to make away with physical transport tickets
Île-de-France Mobilités financed this digital ticket validation test with €120,000. The organization has been collaborating with Samsung for a few years, and this is one more important step toward the modernization of Île-de-France Mobilités ticketing system and the simplification of the ticketing process for passengers in a hurry.
Samsung didn't specify for how long it will run this test with Île-de-France Mobilités or when more than 10,000 Galaxy Watch users will have the option of joining the program.
