Galaxy A35 shows up in benchmark with Exynos 1380 chip

Although Samsung has released the Galaxy A05, A05s, A15, and A25 in numerous countries, these arguably aren't the most anticipated A-series phones of the year. That honor usually goes to the Galaxy A3x and A5x, neither of which have been officially announced yet. However, the Galaxy A35 did appear in an online benchmark today.

According to a recent entry in Geekbench, the Galaxy A35 with model number SM-A356U, destined for the US market, is powered by the Exynos 1380 chip and 6GB of RAM. The phone also runs Android 14, meaning it boasts One UI 6.

This is a Geekbench 5 entry rather than Geekbench 6, but for what it's worth, the Galaxy A35 scored 697 points in single-core and 2,332 points in multi-core tests.

Galaxy A35 may have a “Key Island” design

The SM-A356U also confirms that the Galaxy A35 is a 5G phone, but not much else was revealed by the benchmark.

Since the phone has a “s5e8835” motherboard, it means the Galaxy A35 is equipped with the Exynos 1380 chip rather than the upcoming Exynos 1480, the latter of which should power the unannonuced Galaxy A55.

The Galaxy A34 didn't have the same chip as the Galaxy A54, either, so it makes some amount of sense that the upcoming Galaxy A55 won't share the Exynos 1480 SoC with the cheaper A35.

As for how the Galaxy A35 might look, previously leaked renders show that the Galaxy A35 is similar to the rest of the 2024 A-series in that it has a “Key Island” design. The frame is flat, except around the side buttons where it sticks out a bit — hence the Key Island moniker.

Prices and availability details are unknown, but we'll keep you up to speed as more information emerges.
